Traditional Finnish square pine splint basket, made from hand-split pine splints. The basket has a simple square shape with an open woven structure, showing the natural colour and texture of the pine.

These baskets are made from Scots pine that is split by hand along the grain into thin, flexible splints, which are then woven together without nails or rivets. The technique has been used in Finland for generations, with baskets traditionally made for carrying and storing everything from firewood and mushrooms to groceries. This specific square version is made for collection chanterelle mushrooms which grow freely in the nordic forests.

This basket is in great condition with normal signs of age and use. It's stamped on the bottom and has a sticker on the side as can be seen in the pictures.
