Strip chairs with armrest designed by Gijs Bakker for Castelijn. This iconic Dutch design piece is just amazing. Designed by famous Dutch designer Gijs Bakker and manufactured by Castelijn in the 1970s. The arm chairs are made of 6 strips of laminated beechwood and linked by dowels. The chairs are stackable up to six chairs. The arm chairs are much more rare than the usual dining chairs which are made from just 4 strips of laminated beechwood. We have 2 arm chairs available, and both in great condition with minor signs of usage. Please see the pictures as part of the description.

Gijs Bakker (Amersfoort, The Netherlands, 1942) was trained as a jewelry and industrial designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and the Konstfackskolan in Stockholm, Sweden. His designs cover jewelry, home accessories and household appliances, furniture, interiors, public spaces and exhibitions.
