Set of 6 Artek Model 69 dining chairs designed by Alvar Aalto. The Model 69 is one of Aalto’s best-known chair designs and has the simple, practical character of a classic kitchen or café chair. It has a wide seat and a supportive curved backrest, making it comfortable for everyday use.

The chairs were designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935 and are made in Finland from birch, with veneered backrests. These examples date from around the 1970s and have been upholstered in cream fabric, giving the chairs a softer look while keeping the original character of the design.

Aalto developed his own way of bending solid birch by cutting thin slits into the wood, bending it into shape and then gluing it back together. This technique was an important part of his furniture designs and came before the later, simpler method of bending plywood.

This set of 6 chairs is in great condition with normal signs of use. Most chairs still even show their stamp underneath. Please see the pictures as part of the product description.
