Artek Model 69 dining chairs designed by Alvar Aalto. The Model 69 is one of Artek's most popular chairs. It's a universal wooden chair in the tradition of classic kitchen and café chairs. It has a broad seat and supportive backrest. It was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935. They're made in Finland from solid birch wood, with a veneered backrest and these have a white seat. These chairs are from the 1960s and are both in good vintage condition with normal signs of use. We have one piece left in stock, price is per chair! The right chair in the first picture is the one still available.
Alvar Aalto created a way to bend the wood by carving slits in them, curve them and then glue them again. This method was used before the more popular, easier and cheaper way of bending plywood was invented.
