Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair by Charles and Ray Eames
The Eames Lounge Chair must be one of the most famous chair designs in the world. The design couple Charles and Ray Eames designed this chair in 1956 for Herman Miller. It was the first chair that the couple designed for a high-end market. Examples of these furnishings are part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art.
The Eames Lounge Chair was inspired by the traditional English club chair, and Charles's vision for the chair was 'the warm, receptive look of a well-used first basemen's mitt.' The chair is made from three curved plywood shells covered in a luxury veneer and these shells are filled with leather cushions.
This edition of the Eames Lounge Chair was produced by Herman Miller in 1976. It's signed with the date on the base of the chair as can be seen in the pictures. It has brown leather cushions which even have a sticker underneath from the store in Amsterdam who sold the chair in 1976. This amazing chair has beautiful patina, it's in used condition and the leather shows it's age which makes the chair so much better than a new one in our opinion.
