Pretzel candle holder designed by Elaine Bscheider for Dorothy Thorpe Inc. This amazing candle holder holds two candles and is from the 1960s. It's made from Lucite which is a kind of acrylic plastic from the highest quality. The candle holder is in great vintage condition as seen in the photos.

Based in California, Dorothy Thorpe started designing glass pieces in the 1940s. Her work was initially sold in a small Hollywood gift shop and was soon picked up by the larger well-known stores. Her customer base grew and included high profile names as Clarke Gable, Princess Grace of Monaco and the Shah of Iran.
In the mid 20th Century, she began experimenting with Lucite with the design of these Pretzel candlesticks generally attributed to Elaine Bscheider for Dorothy Thorpe Inc. The candlesticks were never marked but were sold with the Dorothy Thorpe label.
